Painting was used to decorate the walls of the temples and tombs, as well as to illustrate on papyrus. Fresco was a very commonly-used technique. To produce colours, the pigments were dissolved in water before being applied to a damp wall.

A characteristic of the Egyptian painting is that the figures were painted from the side face, only their trunc and eyes were facing the observer.
Other feature is the lack of perspective and the use of plane colors, whitout being blured.
On the other hand, men were represented with a darker skin than women.
